Diane Burn, an internationally renowned designer has been featured in Architectural Digest and numerous books for her design work in Rome, Porto Ercole, Paris, San Francisco, New York and many other locations. She has now created this magical, peaceful island retreat just 45 minutes from the hectic, busy metropolis of Panama City.
For anyone looking to imbue a home with the feel of 18th-century Europe, Diane Burn is the answer. Her interiors evoke “romance ” and “fantasy,” she says, and she achieves her Old World look through the use of painted finishes, boiserie, marble, stone cement and wood flooring, chic window treatments and ecletic furnishings from Louis XVI comfortable upholstered pieces.
“What inspires me most is 18th-century France and ancient Egyptian architecture and artifacts,” she says. “ More recently, I have become fascinated with Moroccan and West Indian inuences as well as textiles and handmade accessories from Latin America.” Now based in Panama, Burn finds the internet to be an invaluable tool in communicating with her wide-ranging clients. “The ability to instantly e-mail photographs from my international buying trips is my main change in technology since starting out as a designer,” she says.

My father, stepmother, husband, + myself visited a week ago and were beyond pleasantly surprised at this hidden / secret gem in the middle of the ocean. Villa Caprichosa exudes beauty + elegance married with privacy + simplicity. It was definitely our home away from home (Louisiana). We will definitely plan another trip at some point! Diane was just a pleasure to meet as well! There aren’t many places you can go and meet the owner / artist who created the place you’re staying. She was super welcoming and the whole experience was perfection.

I have two handicapped relatives, are your rooms accessible for them or they are in a second floor or something related?

The hotel is not design with handicapped access points, we have a suite in the lower level with less steps to access it, but the restaurant area is in a upper level. This said, we are happy to assist you and your relatives in any ways necessary.

What a beautiful design! Villa Caprichosa is such a dream home! I love everything about this place, every touch, the garden and especially the staffs are amazing! The warmest staffs I have ever seen. I am a world traveler. I have always stayed at the best hotels where I go. I have been visiting 81 countries so far and these staffs are amazing ! I twisted my back yesterday and I Ximon Molina , the manager helped me to see doctor, find a massage therapist for me, helps me go up and down the stairs, check on me frequently to make sure I feel better. I really really appreciate Ximon ! And the bartender, Andres, is super kind and sweet as well. I felt like we were friends a long times ago. Thank you again for everything Villa Caprichosa! You are the best! ❤️❤️❤️
